Using the tool
CropBetter is a free browser-based tool for cropping, rotating, framing photos and correcting the vertical perspective of regular architecture. These terms apply to this release of the website. Use the tool only with images you own or have permission to edit and use. Selecting an image does not transfer ownership of it to CropBetter.
The service does not create an account, upload a photo to a cloud library or publish a result on your behalf. You are responsible for where you later share or publish a downloaded image, including any permissions involving people, artwork, brands or other material shown in it.
Suggestions are choices
A/B frames are optional starting points. They do not guarantee an aesthetically better photograph, correct subject recognition, platform acceptance or a particular publishing result. Review the framing yourself, especially around faces, hands, text and important edges. Keeping a version records your choice; changing a kept version requires a fresh confirmation.
Composition guides and tilt hints help you compare possibilities. They do not replace judgment about an intentional slope, symmetry or the meaning of a scene. CropBetter does not perform professional restoration or promise to recover details missing from the original photograph.
Exports and technical limits
Exports use the native pixels inside the crop rather than upscaling to a requested marketing size. Cropping removes part of the image. JPEG is encoded once at quality 92%; PNG encoding is lossless. Rotation and architectural perspective correction resample pixels and crop empty edges without generating scene content; transparency is flattened to white in JPEG, and browser color handling can differ from the source profile. Exported images do not copy source EXIF or GPS fields.
Supported formats depend in part on your browser. The tool accepts up to 5 photos in a group and up to 30 MB per file. Large images can exceed a device's memory or canvas limits even within that file-size limit. If an export fails, try one photo or a smaller crop. Keep a separate copy of important originals and verify downloads before relying on them.
Temporary working sessions
Photos and drafts are held in the current page's memory. Reloading, navigating away or closing the tab can discard that work. CropBetter is not a backup service. A downloaded file is managed by your browser and device, not by an account on this website.
Website availability and browser behavior can change. The tool is provided as available, without a promise of uninterrupted access or a particular fitness for your use, to the extent permitted by applicable law. Nothing in these terms removes rights that applicable consumer law does not allow to be excluded.
Independent service
CropBetter is not affiliated with Facebook, Instagram, YouTube or other destinations mentioned in ratio examples. Those services control their own layouts, requirements and publishing interfaces. Review an image in the actual destination before publishing.
Updated November 3, 2026. The current release is free and has no subscription, checkout or advertising. Future commercial features would require their own clear terms before purchase.
