Photo processing

No uploads, no AI-generated images — your photo never leaves your device.

Selecting, dropping or pasting a photo gives this page access to that local file for editing. CropBetter does not send the file, image pixels, filenames, thumbnails, crop coordinates or export results to a server or image service. Analysis and export run in your browser. There is no photo-upload endpoint, account, cloud library or shared result URL.

This release does not include advertising, third-party comments or remote image-processing APIs. We do not load external fonts. The demonstration images that arrive with the website are static site assets, not photographs selected by visitors.

Two anonymous event counts

When a composition or horizon-leveling suggestion becomes visible, the page sends only the event name suggestion_viewed to /api/event. It is counted once per selected photo within the current tab session. After a download is prepared successfully, the page sends only exported. One ZIP counts as one export, regardless of the number of photos inside. These are event counts, not unique visitor counts or confirmed file saves.

The endpoint accepts only those two event names and stores them in Cloudflare Analytics Engine. It does not store photos, filenames, dimensions, crop coordinates, device details, IP addresses or visitor identifiers in the event dataset. Requests omit cookies and referrers. Preview counts are kept separate. Offline use, blocked requests, Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control can prevent counting; event delivery is not retried and does not block editing or downloading. Hosting infrastructure still receives ordinary connection information as described below.

Page memory and preferences

The current tab holds your selected files, A/B drafts and final choices in memory. Reloading or closing the tab clears that working session. Clearing a group or removing a photo releases the application's references to it. This is not an online backup: save the exports you want before leaving.

The only preference CropBetter writes to localStorage is the composition-guide selection. It contains guide identifiers and on/off values, not photos or personal information. You can remove it by clearing this site's browser storage. If storage is unavailable, the tool still works with temporary preferences.

Downloads and metadata

The browser creates the final JPEG, PNG or ZIP locally. New image exports do not copy the source EXIF block, including GPS fields. JPEG is encoded once at quality 92%; PNG encoding is lossless. Rotation and architectural perspective correction resample existing image data, and browser color handling may normalize a source color profile. Original files are not overwritten.

Downloaded files remain wherever you save them on your device until you remove them. Other applications and cloud-sync settings on your device may handle those files independently of CropBetter. Removing a photo from this page does not delete the original or an exported download.

Normal website requests

Loading a website is different from uploading a photo. Your browser requests HTML, JavaScript, styles and static examples from the hosting infrastructure. Selecting a photo starts local AI analysis and may download analysis resources from this same website; those requests contain no photo data. The first download is about 36.5 MB. Those ordinary requests can expose information such as your IP address, browser details and requested URL to the hosting provider. They do not contain a selected photo or its editing data.

The website and its event endpoint use Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare describes its handling of end-user request information in its own privacy policy. See Cloudflare's policy for the provider's practices rather than assuming that local photo processing makes all web traffic anonymous.

Offline use and external links

Once the tool has loaded, photo selection, quick analysis, editing and export can work without a connection. AI composition analysis needs its resources to be available first; it may need an online download and is not guaranteed on a fresh offline visit. This version does not register a service worker or promise that a fresh visit will load offline. A reload may require access to the website again.

Educational references and hosting-policy links lead to other sites when you choose to open them. Their own policies apply there. CropBetter does not attach your photos, crop coordinates or filenames to those links.

Changes to this notice

Updated November 6, 2026. This notice describes the current free release and its two event counts. If accounts, advertising or other data flows are introduced, the product and this notice need to be reviewed together.
